Music Review: God Forbid-Earthsblood
Vitals:
Name: God Forbid
Album: Earthsblood
Year: 2009
Label: Century Media
Genre: Melodic Death Metal/Thrash/Metalcore
Recipe
1/4 cup RA Vocals (“The Rain”)
2 tsp. Tool riffage (“The New Clear”)
1/2 cup Soilwork guitar work ( “Empire of the Gun”)
Combine. Stir in precision solos, sick grooves, well-crafted harmonies. Bake at 400 for 55 minutes and one second. Top with blast beats, breakdowns, and Metal garnish. Serve.
Recording
Crisp. Balanced. Only thing I really noticed was that in some of the tracks the cymbals sound far away. Might be my audio setup though. Nice!!
Opinion
This album is the total package; tight, mature, organic, impressive, satisfying. If you’re a guitar player, you’ll especially enjoy this sonic effort. The tone is impressive, the songwriting is nuts, and the use of 7-string guitars is a good fit here. The vocal melodies sometimes feel a bit forced, but still work well within the framework of the album. I’m telling you, 2009 is shaping up to become a huge year in Metal so far! The energy presence is real, the ability is real, and God Forbid has written a hugely impressive Metal album for the first half of 2009! Fuckin’ A.
Recommend it? Yes.
Buy it? Yes.
Replay Value: Very High

Great review! I couldn’t agree more! I am really digging this album more then I thought I would. It is one of those albums that you hear new things that keep your attention after multiple listens! You know sales don’t reflect it but I think overall musically it may be better then the Lamb Of God album Wrath which was released the same day!
Good stuff! Anybody reading this Hot Topic has a 3 disc version of this album available for only $9.99!! Disc 2 contains a entire live show from 08 and the 3rd disc has tracks from upcoming bands on the Century Media roster such as the Antagonist!
Mike you are the man! Keep up the good work!
