Who Is HeavyMattL?

Here is little info about me and why you music fans should start paying attention to this site!

I have a strong passion and knowledge of all genres of music but mostly Metal and Hardcore.  I have been involved in Music Retail for about ten years and usually purchase at least one new release album per week.  I’ve been known to pick up seven or eight new releases  in one day if it’s a good day for music.

My collection consists of over a thousand CDs and vinyl along with live concert DVDs spanning all genres of music.  I’ll never strongly recommend albums unless I’ve personally invested in the band’s products (by means of cold hard cash or LEGAL downloads).

I take the day off work and have friends over for listening parties for big releases. On February 9th I will be celebrating the release of the new Fear Factory and Arsis albums as well as the live Meshuggah CD/DVD! How can you not be stoked for those albums?! There will be posts and reviews for those albums on that day from myself and Mike.

Like I said I love all genres of music and am always wanting to hear about new and upcoming bands or artists of all genres. If you like it and are passionate about it then let’s talk! It may not be what I am into  but I will give anything a shot and respect that you enjoy it.

So now you know a bit about me the rest will have to remain a mystery!!

2010 already starting well:

Buzzov en- Violence From The Vault

First album since 1994.  These songs were recorded in 1995 but are now just getting released through Relapse Records.  This is Southern Rock sludge mixed with Punk at its finest!  If you like EyeHateGod, Neurosis, Electric Wizard then definitely check these guys out!

Living SacrificeThe Infinate Order

These guys have been around forever and just recently got back together to release their first full length album of all new material since 2002.  They do have a best-of album titled In Memoriam that I strongly recommend you check out (released in ‘07). Members of this band have been in Evanescense, P.O.D., and Norma Jean.  Also, members of Throwdown, Demon Hunter and As I Lay Dying have cited them as an influence. I have had this album on constant rotation!  Check them out and let me know what you think!

February 9 is huge for us Metalheads!   Like I said earlier you can’t start the year much better then new releases from Fear Factory, Arsis and Meshuggah.  Also if you live in the Clarksburg/Bridgeport  area in WV your local Hot Topic will have these albums in stock and on sale (limited quantities)!  The Fear Factory will be the deluxe edition.  Also this month brings  new releases from High On Fire and a live DVD from the Acacia Strain!

If you can’t get pumped for any of those releases then what  are you looking  forward to in the next couple months?
